Company History

A successful 40 years history in Australia

Menard Bachy is part of the Soletanche Freyssinet Group of Companies, and has enjoyed more than 40 years of activity in Australia. Amongst the many significant projects completed are the Port Augusta Power Station Diaphragm Walls constructed in the mid 1970's which established the Diaphragm Wall technique in Australia, in 2006 the world's largest Vacuum Consolidation project for the Port of Brisbane and the ground improvements works to Port Botany expansion programme in Sydney completed in 2011.

Menard Bachy's operations in Australia can be traced back to the early 1970's, when Bachy, then an independent company, first entered the Australian construction market.

Menard's entry came in 2004, when the company Austress Menard was established as a subsidiary of Freyssinet. Freyssinet's geotechnical division can be traced back to the mid 1960's.

The merger of Soletanche and Bachy and subsequent purchase of that entity by Vinci facilitated the creation of Soletanche Freyssinet which in turn prompted the establishment of Menard Bachy by the merger of Bachy and Menards activities in Australia and the South Pacific region.
